R.I.P

just read this :

"Rowland S Howard has passed away, aged 50.

The Melbourne musician, who cancelled recent shows due to illness, died from liver cancer while waiting for a transplant.

In a recent interview, Howard told Rolling Stone magazine: "Being told that you've only got a couple of years to live without a transplant is a pretty frightening experience and certainly changes the way you feel about your life, makes things so much closer."

Howard used to be a member of Nick Cave's Aussie punk band The Boys Next Door and later wrote their hit 'Shivers' when they became The Birthday Party.

The guitarist was later a member of bands such as Crime and the City Solution and These Immortal Souls"

And now it's time for you to take off thy mask and cross the Rubicon

13th ! 13th !

Recently I discovered a new tv show : Rome .
I've wanted to see it for ages but the dvd's where rather expensive,
but last week I finally purchased them.
What can I say... I'm hooked ,
I absolutely love the show , which isn't difficult with my *minor* ancient Rome obsession.

Today I finished the first season , which is all about the rise and fall of the legendary Gaius Jullius Caesar.
The story is focused on 2 soldiers : Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo who manage to witness and often influence many of the important events in the series.
The 2 soldiers are part of the 13th legion of Caesar which is stationed in Gaul. At this time both Caesar and Pompeius Magnus are consuls of the Roman Republic.
When Caesar heads home with his legions , a huge loot of slaves and gold and a political agenda full of radical changes Pomeius threatens to prosecute Caesar for Illegal warfare as soon as he arrives in Rome. The also tries to create mutiny amongst Caesar's men by stealing his golden eagle.
Vorenus and Pullo manage to retrieve the eagle AND save Ceasars nephew Octavianus. From that point the the fates of Pullo and Vorenus become entwined with those of Caesar and the future of the Roman Republic.

What we like about rome :

The decors ! Rome is one of the most expensive shows ever and it shows , they created a magnificent and colorful city.
The story! It may contain quite a few historical inaccuracies , it contains strong dialogues , intriguing and complex characters and fascinating political intrigues.
I also like it that the show focuses on the Roman aristocracy as well as on the common "plebs". which gives you a more balanced view on the daily life in ancient Rome.
The characters ! As stated above they are all complex characters and I just looooove the way they portrayed Caesar.
They could't have chosen a better actor for the job than Ciaran Hinds.

Honestly I can't think about a negative thing to say about Rome ,
I hope the second season will be just as good as the first

"She's not a synthesizer she's analogue"

The crowd was ecstatic and wanted to hear more of Lisa Gerrard's magnificent voice,
Klaus Shulze told us she would be onstage any minute now but her voice needed rest.
Best Quote ever.

Last night I went to see Klaus Shulze featuring Lisa Gerrard @ Ancienne Belgique (my favorite venue)
I have to admit I don't know the least of Shulze's work
and I only know the "dead can dance" Lisa (plus her gladiator soundtrack with hanz zimmer).
It was a pleasant surprise, the music was so special as in "not of this world".
Lisa Gerrard has an astonishing voice , which suits shulze's music very well.
The only thing I didn't liked where the background visuals , really unnecessary and they didn't fit the music very well.
The crow was dead silent although some people where taking pictures with their cellphones which made quite a lot of noise,
arhg the nerves of some people...
But after this I so want to see dead can dance live.
